Canadian brand Kanto Audio today announces Ren, a 100W active stereo speaker system and the first Kanto speaker to feature HDMI ARC. Ren joins the brand’s active lineup — alongside Tuk, Yu6, Ora and Ora4 — bringing TV, desktop and hi-fi sources together in a compact pair of powered speakers, with six inputs, two DSP sound modes, and a dedicated subwoofer output.
Where a soundbar sits under the screen and drives everything from a single enclosure, Ren is a true stereo pair. HDMI ARC with CEC connects it to a television over one cable, wakes it with the TV, and lets you control volume and source from the TV remote. Two separated speakers deliver left-right imaging a single-box soundbar can’t reproduce.

Built to replace a soundbar
HDMI ARC with CEC is a first for a Kanto speaker. One cable carries audio from the television, Ren wakes with the TV, and the TV remote handles volume and source. Because Ren is a genuine stereo pair rather than a single bar, you get the true left-right separation a soundbar can’t produce.
Two DSP sound modes tune Ren for TV: Vocal Boost lifts dialogue out of a busy mix, while Night Mode reins in loud effects for late-night viewing.
Connect any way you listen
Ren covers six inputs across digital and analogue. HDMI ARC with CEC handles the television; USB-C and optical (TOSLINK™) both support audio up to 24-bit/96kHz for a clean feed from a PC, Mac, digital audio player, iPhone 15 or Android device. Bluetooth® 5.3 with SBC/AAC streams wirelessly across the room, while RCA line-in and a 3.5mm mini-jack take analogue sources such as a tape deck or a turntable with its own phono stage.
Room to add a subwoofer
A dedicated sub-out with a selectable 80Hz crossover makes it easy to add low end — pair Ren with the Kanto Sub8. With a subwoofer connected, bass management automatically sends everything below 80Hz to the sub. The feature can also be switched off from the remote when you’d rather run the speakers full-range.
Set it your way
The supplied IR remote does more than change the volume. It can swap the left and right channels, disable auto power-on and auto power-down, dim the LED indicator, mute the subwoofer, and adjust bass and treble — so Ren can be dialed in to the room and the way you use it.
Designed to fit in
Ren is offered in five matte finishes — Matte Black, Matte Grey, Matte Orange, Matte Blue and Matte White — with removable speaker grilles and a 1/4″-20 bottom mounting hole for stands or wall brackets.
